EDWARD TYLER NAHEM FINE ART TO HIGHLIGHT KENNETH VICTOR YOUNG AT TEFAF NEW YORK SPRING
Solo Exhibition of Young’s Work to be Showcased at Park Avenue Armory Fair May 3-7
(New York, NY)– April 17, 2019 – Edward Tyler Nahem Fine Artwill present a solo exhibition of six works by artist Kenneth V. Young (1933-2017)at TEFAF New York Spring at stand 366. TEFAF is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading fairs of fine art, antiques, and design. The TEFAF New York Spring fair, focused on twentieth century art and design, takes place in the historic Park Avenue Armoryon May 3-7, 2019.
Kenneth V. Young’s paintings on view, rendered in brilliant acrylic washes of color, will include Spring Joy(1972),and others completed from 1968-1972. Young, a pivotal force in African American abstraction and color field painting, studied physics and the natural sciences and sought to bring order out of chaos with his art. He was an artist, teacher and museum professional whose work is in the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s permanent collection. His work has been shown in numerous museums, including the National Gallery of Art. A retrospective of his work, curated by Dexter Wimberly, entitled Kenneth Victor Young: Continuum will be on view through May 26that American University in Washington, DC. A catalog is available.
